The Foundation for Patient Safety, Innovations and Quality, established in summer of 2009, is a non -profit organisation that aims to contribute as a reliable partner of the government and the society in implementing priority goals of the Lithuanian and European Union health care policy.

Mission Statement
To foster establishment of patient safety culture, development of safe health care services, and improvement of their quality, increase of transparency, efficiency and accountability of health care system, and promotion of innovations in these areas.
Main goals
- To foster establishment and promotion of the patient safety culture in Lithuania; to inform and empower the society on patient safety issues
- To embed the patient safety as a patient right to protect him/herself from potential harm related to the health care
- To promote effective patients‘ rights implementation in the health care system
- To promote the transparency, efficiency and accountability of health care system
- To promote the quality and safety of health care services, innovations and value of technologies
- To foster participation of patients in decision making concerning health care services planning, provision/delivering, and evaluation.

- Scientific and public opinion research in the field of health care services quality and safety
- Awareness raising of the general public and particular target groups on relevant health care issues
- Strengthening of competencies of health care politicians and specialists in the field of health care services quality and safety
- Education and counselling of patients on relevant health care services organisation and provision/delivering, health care services quality and safety issues
- International cooperation, dissemination of good practices and experiences of foreign countries
- Advocacy activities: monitoring of adoption and enforcement of legal acts, preparation of recommendations for policy makers.
